FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Below we try to answer all frequently asked questions about NordFly Cargo.
Our History
NordFly was founded in 2020 in Hamburg by Bastjan Schmidt and Nico Perrech. Over the years, the virtual airline expanded to additional locations in Berlin, Stockholm, and Munich, reaching its current size. In early 2024, we established the virtual cargo airline NordFly Cargo, headquartered in Hanover, evolving into NordFly Group Airlines.
Since 2020, we have been providing a platform for flight simulation enthusiasts who enjoy flying in a friendly and dedicated community. Our Discord server serves as the central hub for direct interaction, group flights, support, and many other exciting activities.
No Finance or Points System – what does that means?
We focus purely on the joy of flying! With us, there are no complicated finance or points systems, allowing you to fully concentrate on flying and enjoying the community.
Freedom of Aircraft Choise- what does that means?
At NordFly Cargo, you fly the aircraft you know best—without restrictions or typeratings. Jump right in and take off with your favorite plane!
Flexible Start Points
Many virtual airlines require you to start from the airport where you last landed. At NordFly Cargo, it’s different! You decide where you want to start. Whether you prefer to fly realistically or not is entirely up to you – no annoying hub restrictions!
Only Active Pilots, No “Dead Weight“
We prioritize quality over quantity. Only active pilots are part of our roster, ensuring you can rely on a vibrant and engaged community. This is something we highly value. Inactive pilots are removed after a three-step warning system.
Quarterly Flight Regulation – what is that?
To ensure the activity of our pilots, we have introduced a quarterly flight regulation, requiring our pilots to complete at least 5 flights within a quarter.
The third quarter of the year is our official summer break, during which the regulation is paused.
If you’re unable to meet the quarterly flight requirement due to school, work, or personal reasons, you can submit a special request to our HQ for deletion protection for that quarter.
Three-Step Warning System – what is that?
Our team monitors your activity regularly. If we notice that you are inactive, you will receive three emails at 10-day intervals. In these emails, you will be asked to either complete a flight or provide feedback. If there is no activity or response by the deadline in the third email, your account will be deleted.
Quarterly Flight Regulation | Flying for Multiple NordFly Group Airlines
If you fly for multiple airlines within the NordFly Group Airlines as a NordFly Cargo pilot, your required flights do not accumulate. The minimum remains at 5 flights per quarter.
Flying together
Almost daily, our members meet on Discord for group flights or simply to chat. Experience the fascination of flight simulation in the best community!
Rotating Flight Schedules
With our summer and winter flight schedules, along with the option to create custom flights, we always offer variety and exciting destinations.
“Destination of the Month”, Events & Tours
Each month, we feature a “Destination of the Month” with an award recognition. Additionally, you can complete tours created by us, which are rewarded with an award upon completion. We also organize regular group event flights on the IVAO and VATSIM networks.
Part of NordFly Group Airlines
As part of the largest interconnected fictional virtual airline group in Germany, consisting of NordFly, NordFly Cargo, and FlyHoliday Airlines, you benefit from a variety of flight options and concepts. Once you have completed 10 accepted flights for NordFly Cargo, you will also have the opportunity to fly for the other airlines within the group.
Our target Group?
Our airline is aimed at experienced pilots who are confident in flying an aircraft from our fleet from point A to point B and are proficient in current IFR procedures.
Beginner in Flight Simulation?
If you are new to flight simulation, NordFly Cargo is unfortunately not the right place for you, as we cannot offer a classic flight school.
Only flown offline so far?
Even if you’ve only flown offline until now, you’re more than welcome with us. You can continue flying offline at NordFly, but if you’re interested in transitioning to online flying, our community is happy to support you every step of the way.
Free & User-friendly
Using NordFly Cargo is completely free. Our modern software and user-friendly interface make flying simple and enjoyable. With a customized version of phpVMS – OperationCenter – and the ACARS software, we offer you seamless flight tracking and planning.

Why a Preliminary Discussion When You’re a Member of Other Virtual Airlines?
Since 2020, NordFly Group Airlines has invested thousands of hours of work and over €4,000 in its operations and development. We want to ensure that you actively engage with our community and don’t use NordFly Cargo as just a “jump seat airline.”
I’ve flown for other virtual Airlines, will my flights, flight hours, and rank be recognized?
A full official recognition of flight hours, completed flights, and previous ranks is not possible due to fairness toward our pilots.
